Blog-lite of late. The main reason being that much of my reading, talking, thinking, has been around something I couldn't make public: thoughts about a move into a new place and a different sort of ministry.
Yesterday it became public: that before Christmas this year I will be licensed as Team Vicar in the Northmoor Team, Okehampton, Devon, with special responsibility for the parishes of Lydford, Bratton Clovelly, Germansweek, Sourton and Bridestowe.
The news was received with wailing, groaning and gashing of teeth here in Liverpool. I hope that it went down better in Devon.Chance for a new start; opportunity to explore pastures new (with my wellies on); replacing "Ok, Lar" with "Oo-arr", scouse suppers with cream teas; learning country ways, walking the A386. It will be different and on our two recent visits there, meeting quite a few of the folks of the five churches, it felt like it will be good.
Diana and I will be living in the rectory at Lydford. If you Google Lydford, Devon or Lydford Gorge you can see what it looks like there. The team has its own website which is worth a look too. Much more on this, doubtless, to follow.
