"Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few." Another first for me today: a service in commemoration of the Battle of Britain. I've been listening hard to Ann Morisy's Greenbelt talk, Borrowing from the future, and so in my talk to the medalled veterans I compared the blessings of the sons and daughters of those who fought in 1939-45, the baby boomers, with the difficulties faced by today's young people, and urged the (predominantly baby boomer) congregation to get involved, in the spirit of The Few, in what Ann calls 'intergenerational equity', or creating a good world for today's children... I imagine that this was not an easy service to take, but I heard it went very well, and 'John did a really good sermon which struck the right balance', so thought I'd come and read it on here, and agree!
